Master's in Architecture in Türkiye: Tuition (2026)

Few countries are a better classroom for architecture than Türkiye, where Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and cutting-edge contemporary design sit side by side. Our catalogue lists 69 architecture master’s programs at 25 universities, with tuition from roughly €1,250 to $14,000 a year and plenty of English-taught options. Here is what you can study, where, and what it costs.

Why study architecture in Türkiye

Istanbul alone is a living museum of architecture, and Turkish schools combine that heritage with modern studios, digital fabrication labs and faculty active in practice. Several programs are accredited and taught in English, the cost of study and living is low, and graduates work across a booming construction and design sector. It is a rare chance to study restoration and contemporary design in the same city.

What you will study

The field covers several tracks in our catalogue:

  • Architecture, the core design-and-research master’s
  • Interior Architecture and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Specialised options such as History and Theory of Architecture and History of Architecture and Restoration

Most programs run between 1.5 and 2 years, are studio-based, and offer a thesis or non-thesis track.

English-taught or Turkish-taught?

12 of the 25 universities offer an English-taught option, which is plenty for international students. Affordable English-taught examples include Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University ($3,500), Istanbul Kultur University ($4,000) and Istanbul Okan University ($5,000), while Near East University in Northern Cyprus offers architecture, interior and landscape tracks from about €1,254 a year. The rest are taught in Turkish, with a one-year Turkish preparatory year available if you need it.

How much does it cost?

Tuition runs from about €1,250 a year at Near East University in Northern Cyprus to $14,000 a year at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul. Most universities sit between $3,500 and $7,500 a year. Add roughly $400 to $700 a month for living costs depending on the city. Sibling and cash-payment discounts can lower the price; you will find them in our programs explorer, and our scholarships and tuition guide covers the rest.

Thesis or non-thesis?

A thesis master’s includes a research-and-design project and is the right choice if you may continue to a PhD or want a research portfolio. A non-thesis master’s is shorter and project-based, a good fit for moving quickly into practice. The price gap between the two is usually small.

Which city is right for you?

Most programs are in Istanbul, the obvious base for an architecture career, with further options in Izmir and several English-taught choices in Northern Cyprus. If you are weighing your options, our post on choosing the right university and major can help.

How to apply

You will need your bachelor’s degree and transcript (usually in architecture or a related design field), a portfolio at some schools, a copy of your passport, and, for English-taught programs, proof of English such as IELTS or TOEFL. Start two to three months before your intake; the full process is in our Study in Türkiye guide.
