Master's in Computer Engineering in Türkiye: Tuition (2026)

Türkiye’s tech sector is booming, and a master’s in computer engineering is one of the most employable degrees you can take here. Our catalogue lists 57 computer engineering master’s programs at 29 universities, with tuition from roughly €1,250 to $14,000 a year and a large choice of English-taught options. Here is what you will study, where, and what it costs.

Why study computer engineering in Türkiye

Istanbul and Ankara have become genuine technology hubs, home to startups, R&D centres and the engineering teams of global companies. Universities have modern labs in areas like AI, data science, networks and cybersecurity, and many teach the master’s fully in English. With low tuition, a strong job market and an internationally recognised degree, it is an efficient route into a tech career.

What you will study

The field is tightly focused in our catalogue:

  • Computer Engineering, the core master’s covering software, systems and theory
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering, a hardware-and-software blend

Typical coursework spans algorithms and software engineering, machine learning and data science, computer networks, cybersecurity, and embedded or distributed systems, with a research project at the end. Most programs run between 1.5 and 2 years and offer a thesis or non-thesis track.

English-taught or Turkish-taught?

Engineering is well suited to studying in English here: 20 of the 29 universities offer an English-taught option. Affordable examples include Biruni University ($2,700 to $3,600), Beykoz University ($3,000) and Istanbul Arel University ($4,500), while Near East University in Northern Cyprus starts from about €1,254 a year. The rest are taught in Turkish, with a one-year Turkish preparatory year available if you need it.

How much does it cost?

Tuition runs from about €1,250 a year at Near East University in Northern Cyprus to $14,000 a year at the most premium schools in Istanbul. Most universities sit between $3,000 and $6,000 a year. Add roughly $400 to $700 a month for living costs depending on the city. Sibling and cash-payment discounts can lower the price; you will find them in our programs explorer, and our scholarships and tuition guide covers the rest.

Thesis or non-thesis?

A thesis master’s includes a research project and is the right choice if you want to move into R&D or continue to a PhD. A non-thesis master’s is shorter and more applied, a good fit if you want to upgrade your skills and move quickly into industry. The price gap between the two is usually small.

Which city is right for you?

Most programs are in Istanbul, the country’s largest tech market, with strong options in Ankara, home to technology and defence-tech clusters, plus Izmir and English-taught choices in Northern Cyprus. If you are weighing your options, our post on choosing the right university and major can help.

How to apply

You will need your bachelor’s degree and transcript (usually in computer engineering, software or a related field), a copy of your passport, and, for English-taught programs, proof of English such as IELTS or TOEFL, though many universities accept their own placement test instead. Start two to three months before your intake; the full process is in our Study in Türkiye guide.
