Psychology is one of the most sought-after master’s fields in Türkiye, and clinical psychology in particular fills up fast. Our catalogue lists 81 psychology master’s programs at 35 universities, with tuition from roughly €1,250 to $25,000 a year and a mix of English- and Turkish-taught options. Here is what you can study, where, and what it costs.
Why study psychology in Türkiye
Turkish universities have invested heavily in modern psychology departments, with well-equipped labs, training clinics and faculty publishing internationally. Demand for psychologists is rising across health, education and HR, and tuition is far lower than comparable programs in Western Europe or North America. For international students, several universities offer the degree fully in English.
What you will study
The field splits into several tracks in our catalogue:
- Clinical Psychology, the most popular and the route toward therapy and assessment
- General Psychology and Applied Psychology
- Counselling Psychology
- Work and Organizational (Industrial) Psychology
- Specialised options such as Criminal Psychology and Addiction Psychology
Most programs run between 1.5 and 2 years and offer a thesis or non-thesis track. Clinical tracks usually include supervised practice, so check the language of the clinical placement before you apply.
English-taught or Turkish-taught?
Most psychology master’s are taught in Turkish, since clinical work often involves Turkish-speaking clients, but 9 universities offer an English-taught option. They include Near East University (general psychology, from about €1,254), Eastern Mediterranean University ($7,552), Ibn Haldun University (counselling, $5,200) and Bahcesehir University (clinical psychology). If your Turkish is not exam-ready, most universities offer a one-year Turkish preparatory year.

How much does it cost?
Tuition runs from about €1,250 a year at Near East University in Northern Cyprus to $25,000 a year for the most premium clinical track in Istanbul. Most universities sit between $3,000 and $7,000 a year. Add roughly $400 to $700 a month for living costs depending on the city. Sibling and cash-payment discounts can lower the price further; you will find them in our programs explorer, and our scholarships and tuition guide explains the full picture.
Thesis or non-thesis?
A thesis master’s includes original research and is the usual route if you want to register as a clinical psychologist or continue to a PhD. A non-thesis master’s is shorter and more applied. For clinical psychology in particular, the thesis track is often the one that leads to professional practice, so confirm the requirements in your home country.
Which city is right for you?
Most programs are in Istanbul, but there are strong, more affordable options in Izmir and English-taught choices in Northern Cyprus. Not sure how to compare them? Our post on choosing the right university and major helps.
How to apply
You will need your bachelor’s degree and transcript (ideally in psychology or a related field), a copy of your passport, and, for English-taught programs, proof of English such as IELTS or TOEFL. Some clinical tracks also interview applicants. Start two to three months before your intake; see our Study in Türkiye guide for the full process.
